Center for Digital Education & Converge: research in education technology for K-12 and higher education

Google Hangout with a College Social Networking Evangelist

on October 8, 2012

Michael Staton is co-founder of Inigral, a company helping universities create private, internal social networks for their students.

His company exemplifies the goal of many education technology companies: using software and hardware to make learning a positive experience for teachers and students.

Inigral has partnerships with more than 100 universities in the United States and Canada, according to Staton. He’s seen universities with Inigral-powered social networks experience an 8 percent higher retention rate from students continuing on from their freshman to sophomore years, he said.

Staton feels that the social engagement and human connection enhances student satisfaction.

“These are factors that influence a student’s success trajectory,” he said.

Find out more about Inigral from Staton in the video below.
