Making a Case for VR in the Classroom. Dr. Kecia Ray will be presenting at SXSW Edu at 5:20pm today! Don't miss this opportunity to learn how the Center for Digital Education partnered with a VR company and a Nashville high school to conduct a case study looking at student engagement and teacher adoption. The results are promising. The principal and researcher will share the case study results and promising practice of VR during this session.

Reflecting on the original big idea for MOOCs. MOOCs are far from dead. Rather, they appear to hatch derivatives. Sean Gallagher of Northeastern University’s Center for the Future of Higher Education and Talent Strategy refers to this as “the new ecology of credentials”, a landscape transforming rapidly as we move from the early knowledge economy to the digital, AI, Gig economy. 

Limerick Institute of Technology has appointed its first ever Vice President of equality and diversity. Marian Duggan has been appointed to the role following on from a recommendation from the Higher Education Authority (HEA) that the position be created in all third level institutions. The position was created to encourage inclusion and diversity among staff and students.  

Governor Rick Snyder has introduced a new initiative to increase technology-related education in Michigan schools. The Marshall Plan for Talent is geared toward preparing today's youth for careers of all kinds that include different technology training. The investment of $100 million is a five-year plan that hopes to reconfigure the way Michigan attracts businesses to the state.
